Loyola Bookstore
The Ruth Rice Book Nook, fills a special niche in the spiritual reading
category. The spiritual directors at Loyola recognize that reading is an important way in which we are formed spiritually. We read spiritual literature for information to direct our minds to a wider vision—not just to stir our thoughts.
In the Christian tradition, meditative reading has been the foundation of all spiritual practice – it is meant to stir our hearts. The word meditative is key here. In meditative reading, we try to enter into the reading and incorporate it into our hearts and lives to be inspired with its meaning and resonances.
